Madison has lost another hip hop soldier. Dwayne Williams, known to many as “V.G.” or “Volcano G” was tragically murdered on May 1st. Williams was a member of the group Two Towers along with his brother De’Amante (a.k.a. Merciless) and represented No Punk and Feel Good Entertainment.
Williams was born in Chicago and raised here in Madison. One of ten children, he started making music at 10 years old. His father, DJ Chill, was a known dee-jay between here and Chicago, and encouraged V.G. on his path. He and his two brothers formed a group before he and De’Amante became The Two Towers. Dwayne was a devoted father of two sons. He was studying psychology at the University of Phoenix and closing in on his degree. He also was an avid writer, just completing an autobiography. The Williams family would like to thank everyone for their calls, comments e-mails and support. There will be Continue Reading...

When you think of Get Rich Records, you think of Romey; he’s synonymous with their success. What many people don’t know is the major role B-Ezee plays to keep the label in motion. Misconceived as simply a hypeman for years, B-Ezee is ready to emerge into the limelight as an artist/producer in his own right. 608 recently got in touch with the Madison mogul to let you know where he came from and where he’s heading.

B-Ezee: My name was given to me by my crew. It came about because it pretty much described my demeanor. I’m a guy that’s very easy to get along with Continue Reading...

Who knew that the Midwest, known more for sprawling farmlands and beer bellies, would be home to one of the most successfully run independent Hip-Hop labels around?
Virtually no one, probably not even Brent “Siddiq” Sayers, Anthony “Ant” Davis, Sean “Slug” Daley or Musab “Beyond” S’ad when they launched Rhymesayers Entertainment (R.S.E.) in 1995.
With offices in Uptown Minneapolis, where Prince held his throne throughout the ‘80s, R.S.E. emerged from being a formidable contender in the Hip-Hop industry to becoming a blueprint for Hip-Hop indie labels all over the world.
Although R.S.E. doesn’t credit themselves as the Continue Reading...

He’s produced beats for everything from platinum-selling albums to local artists’ mixtapes. He’s worked the 1s and 2s for national acts as they stop through the state as well as small shows at area bars. And there’s almost no one in the city’s rap scene he hasn’t worked with — many of them, multiple times.
So, in short, if you’re even slightly into the Madison Hip-Hop scene and you haven’t heard of DJ Pain 1, you’re doing something very, very wrong.
A city native and West High graduate, Pain, like most, gravitated to Hip-Hop as a young child, with his passion for it building like an addict’s hunger Continue Reading...
